Instead of trying to disguise VPN traffic as something else, it encodes your entire internet connection as standard DNS queries — the same type of request every device on earth makes billions of times a day to load websites.

Why DNS?

DNS (Domain Name System) is the backbone of the internet. Every website visit, every app, every service begins with a DNS query. If a government blocks DNS, their own infrastructure stops working — email servers can't deliver mail, banks can't process transactions, and government websites go offline.

This makes DNS the last protocol any censor will block, and it's exactly why StormDNS uses it as a transport layer.

How StormDNS Works

The process is straightforward:

1. Your device encrypts your internet traffic and splits it into small fragments
2. Each fragment is encoded as a DNS query label — to any observer, it looks like a normal domain name lookup
3. Public DNS resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9) forward these queries through standard DNS delegation to our StormDNS server
4. Our server reassembles the fragments, decrypts your data, and proxies your real internet traffic
5. Responses travel back the same way — encoded as DNS responses

To a network observer, firewall, or deep packet inspection system, your traffic is indistinguishable from the billions of DNS queries that flow across the internet every second.

Confirmed Working in the Toughest Environments

StormDNS has been tested and verified in some of the most restrictive internet environments on earth:

🇮🇷 Iran — Tested during active internet restrictions across all major ISPs and mobile operators. DNS tunnel traffic passes through even when standard VPN protocols, Tor, and Shadowsocks are all blocked. Our built-in Iran Resolver Scanner automatically finds working DNS resolvers for your specific ISP.

🇷🇺 Russia — Bypasses Roskomnadzor's deep packet inspection (DPI) equipment. The traffic appears as standard DNS queries to TSPU filtering systems, making it invisible to Russia's censorship infrastructure.

🇨🇳 China — Penetrates the Great Firewall where conventional VPN protocols are detected and blocked within minutes. DNS queries follow standard internet routing that China's firewall allows through by design.

1. Log in to your PremierVPN dashboard
2. Go to the StormDNS page in the sidebar
3. Click Activate on any server
4. Use the "Open in Premier Nexus" button on iOS, or copy the details into WhiteDNS on Android
5. For Iran: check the Iran Resolvers tab for verified working resolvers
