How to Set Up PremierVPN X on Android
What is PremierVPN X?
PremierVPN X is our VLESS + REALITY app, designed for networks that actively block standard VPN protocols. It makes your VPN traffic look like normal HTTPS browsing, which is why it works in countries like Iran and China where WireGuard and OpenVPN are blocked.
PremierVPN X is a separate app from the standard PremierVPN WireGuard app. You can install both on the same device. Only connect through one at a time.
Installation
Option 1: Google Play Store
If Google Play is available in your region, install directly from the store:
Download PremierVPN X on Google Play
Option 2: Direct APK (for restricted regions)
If Google Play is blocked in your country, download the APK file directly from your portal Downloads page and sideload it:
- Log in to portal.premiervpn.net and go to Downloads
- Under PremierVPN X, tap Download on the Android APK entry
- Open the downloaded file on your Android device
- Android will ask you to allow installing from unknown sources — tap Allow
- The app installs like any other
Tip: You can also send the APK download link to someone via WhatsApp or Telegram. They tap the link, download the file, and install it.
Signing In
- Open PremierVPN X
- Enter the same email and password you use on premiervpn.net
- Tap Sign In
You do not need a separate account. Your existing PremierVPN subscription includes access to PremierVPN X.
Connecting
- After signing in, tap the large Connect button
- Android will ask for permission to create a VPN connection — tap OK (this is a one-time system prompt)
- Wait for the status to show Connected
- You are now connected. Open WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other app normally.
Recommended Settings
Auto-Connect on Boot: Open the app settings and enable Auto-Connect on Boot. This means if the phone restarts, the VPN reconnects automatically without needing to open the app. This is especially useful for elderly or non-technical users.
Quick Settings Tile: PremierVPN X adds a tile to your Android Quick Settings panel (swipe down from the top of the screen). You can toggle the VPN on and off from there without opening the app.
Always-On VPN: Go to Android Settings, then Network and Internet, then VPN, then PremierVPN X, and toggle Always-On. This tells Android to maintain the VPN connection at all times and block internet access if the VPN disconnects.
Troubleshooting
Connection fails or drops frequently: Try switching to a different server from the server list. Some servers may perform better than others depending on your location and current network conditions.
Slow speeds: VLESS + REALITY adds a small overhead compared to WireGuard. If you are not on a restricted network and speed is your priority, use the standard PremierVPN WireGuard app instead.
App not installing (APK): Make sure you have enabled Install from unknown sources for the app you used to download the file (usually Chrome or your file manager). This setting is under Android Settings, then Apps, then Special Access, then Install Unknown Apps.
Cannot sign in: Verify your email and password at portal.premiervpn.net first. If you can log in to the portal but not the app, check that your subscription is active.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I share my account with family?
Yes. You can sign in on multiple devices with the same credentials. Your subscription allows simultaneous connections, so you and a family member can both be connected at the same time.
What is the difference between PremierVPN and PremierVPN X?
PremierVPN uses WireGuard for the fastest raw speeds in everyday use. PremierVPN X uses VLESS + REALITY for networks that block VPN traffic such as corporate firewalls, restrictive countries, and censored networks. Both are included in your subscription.
Does it work in Iran?
VLESS + REALITY is currently working in Iran where other VPN protocols are blocked. We cannot guarantee 100% availability because the situation evolves, but we actively monitor and respond to changes in blocking.
