Timed File Expiry
What Is Timed File Expiry?
Timed file expiry lets you set an auto-destruct date on individual files. When the date arrives, the encrypted blob is permanently deleted from storage — not just hidden or archived, but actually destroyed.
How to Use It
When uploading a file, you can set an expiry date. Files with an expiry show a countdown badge in the file list:
- Amber badge — more than 3 days remaining.
- Red badge — less than 3 days remaining.
Once the expiry date passes, a background process permanently deletes the file.
Use Cases
- Upload a contract, set it to delete in 90 days after the deal closes.
- Store temporary credentials, set them to expire in 24 hours.
- Share sensitive documents with a time limit — even if you forget to delete them manually.
Important Notes
- Expiry deletion is permanent and irreversible.
- The expiry process runs daily. Files may persist for up to 24 hours past their expiry date.
- Expired files' share links also stop working.
