Folders, Starring, and Organisation

This guide shows how to organise your Encrypted Vault with folders and stars, and what happens when you delete files and folders.

Create a folder

1. Open Vault and go to the place you want the new folder (the top level, or inside another folder).
2. Click New folder.
3. Type a name and click Create folder.

Folders can go inside other folders. Click a folder to open it. The path at the top of your file list (for example Vault › Work › Contracts) shows where you are; click any part of it to go back up.

Files you upload go into the folder you have open. Folder names aren't encrypted, so keep them general.

Rename and move

• Rename a folder: click the options button (three dots) next to the folder, choose Rename, type the new name and click Save name.
• Rename a file: click the options button next to the file and choose Rename. The new name of an encrypted file is encrypted in your browser before it's saved.
• Move a file: click the options button next to the file, choose Move, pick a folder (or Vault (top level)) under Move to and click Move file.

Star important files

Click the star next to a file in list view, or click the options button (three dots) and choose Star. To remove it, click the star again or choose Remove star.

To see all your starred files in one list, click the star icon at the top of the vault (Starred). The list shows each file's name, size, when it was added and which folder it's in. To download a starred file, click the folder icon next to it to open its folder.

Delete a file

1. Click the options button (three dots) next to the file and choose Delete.
2. Click Delete file to confirm.

The file is deleted from storage straight away, along with any share links to it. It can't be recovered.

Delete a folder

1. Click the options button (three dots) next to the folder and choose Delete folder.
2. Click Delete folder and contents to confirm.

The folder, every folder inside it and all their files are permanently deleted. Share links to those files stop working.

Deletion is permanent. There's no recycle bin in the vault, so check before you confirm.
