Dedicated SlipNet server · Soar

The strongest way to connect from Iran

Your own SlipNet server running Soar, the multipath DNS tunnel. It spreads your connection across many DNS resolvers at once, so blocking one doesn't cut you off. It gets through when almost everything else is blocked, and nobody else uses your server.

Why it gets through

Many routes at once, not one

Most VPNs depend on one connection that a censor can find and block. Soar hides inside DNS, which is hard to block without breaking ordinary internet use, and never relies on a single path.

Many resolvers at once

Your traffic is split across many DNS resolvers at the same time. When one is blocked, the others keep your connection going.

Finds working resolvers itself

Resolver Discovery looks for resolvers that can carry the tunnel and checks each one against your server's signed handshake. No hunting for resolvers by hand.

Switches to TCP when UDP is blocked

Some networks block normal DNS over UDP. Soar moves to DNS over TCP on port 53 for any resolver that stops answering, by itself.

Why your own server

Nobody else on your route

Our VPN plans include Soar on shared servers, used by many customers. A dedicated server is yours alone: your own tunnel addresses, your own links, and all of its capacity for you and the people you choose.

How to set up Soar in SlipNet →

Only you
No other customers on your server, so their traffic never slows you down or draws attention to it.
Own addresses
Your server's tunnel addresses aren't shared with anyone, so a block aimed at shared servers doesn't touch yours.
Two ways in
Soar Direct, the fastest, and Soar SSH as a backup. Every login gets both.
Family
Up to 5 logins, each with its own links. Remove one and its links stop working straight away.
Automatic
Built for you in about 15 minutes after payment. Nothing to configure on a server.
Getting connected

Connected in four steps

  1. Pick a location and pay

Card, PayPal, Bitcoin or Lightning. Paying for family inside Iran works the same way.

  2. We build your server

Automatically, in about 15 minutes. We email you when it's ready.

  3. Copy your Soar link

From My SlipNet Server in the client area. Add logins for your family there too.

  4. Import it in SlipNet

Tap +, then Import from URI. Turn on Resolver Discovery and connect.

Shared or dedicated

Which one do you need?

Every VPN plan includes SlipNet on our shared servers. Choose a dedicated server when you want Soar on a server nobody else uses.

FAQ

Questions

Why is this the most reliable way to connect from Iran?

Soar carries your connection inside ordinary DNS lookups and spreads it across many DNS resolvers at once. Blocking one resolver doesn't cut you off, because the others carry on, and when a network blocks normal DNS it switches to DNS over TCP. On your own server nobody else's traffic shares your route, and your server has its own tunnel addresses. Nothing can promise to work through every shutdown, but users in Iran have had it working on home broadband, Irancell and MCI.

What is Soar?

A multipath DNS tunnel from Lantern, the team behind the Lantern anti-censorship app. It finds resolvers that can carry the tunnel by itself, checks each one against your server's signed handshake, and sends your traffic through many of them at once.

What's the difference between Soar Direct and Soar SSH?

Soar Direct is the fastest and needs no password: each login gets its own Direct link. Soar SSH signs in with a username and password and goes through your server's SSH service, which helps on the few networks where Direct won't connect. Every login gets both links.

Which devices does it work on?

Android, in the free SlipNet app (version 2.5.6 or later). Copy a link from your client area, tap + in SlipNet, choose Import from URI and connect.

Can my family use it?

Yes. You can add up to 5 logins, one for each person or device, from your client area. Each login has its own links, and removing a login stops its links working straight away. You can pay from abroad by card, PayPal, Bitcoin or Lightning.

Do I need a VPN plan as well?

No, it's a standalone service. Our VPN plans already include SlipNet on our shared servers, with more tunnel types (DNSTT, Slipstream, VayDNS and others). A dedicated server is for when you want a Soar server that only you and your family use.

How quickly is it ready?

It's built automatically as soon as payment goes through, usually in 10 to 15 minutes. We email you when it's ready, and your links appear on your SlipNet server page.

Which location should I choose?

Soar reaches your server through DNS resolvers rather than directly, so the location matters less than with a normal VPN. Germany or the Netherlands are good choices from Iran.

What happens when I cancel?

Your server is destroyed when your subscription ends, along with its tunnel addresses and logins. Nothing is kept.
