What Are Geo-Destruction Rules?

Geo-destruction rules let you define which countries are allowed to access your vault. If your vault is accessed from a country not on your approved list, files are automatically locked or permanently destroyed.

How to Set Up Geo Rules

  1. Go to Vault > Security Settings.
  2. Scroll to Geo-Destruction Rules.
  3. Tick Enable geo-destruction rules.
  4. Select your approved countries from the checklist (e.g. United Kingdom, Germany, France).
  5. Choose the action on violation:
    • Lock access — denies access to the vault but preserves your files. You can regain access by logging in from an approved country.
    • Destroy everything — permanently deletes all files from storage. This is irreversible.
  6. Optionally tick Email me on violations to receive an alert when an access attempt from an unapproved country is detected.
  7. Click Save Geo Rules.

How It Works

When you access your vault, PremierVPN checks your IP address against a geolocation service. The result is compared to your approved country list. If the country doesn't match, the configured action is taken immediately.

Violation Log

The security settings page shows your last 10 geo violations, including the country, IP address, timestamp, and action taken (locked or destroyed).

Warning: If you set the action to "Destroy" and accidentally access your vault while travelling in an unapproved country, all your files will be permanently deleted. Consider using "Lock" if you travel frequently, and updating your country list before trips.
