PremierVPN for Windows is a native desktop app supporting Windows 10 (version 1903+) and Windows 11 on both Intel/AMD (x64) and ARM64 devices.

Download

Visit the Downloads page in your portal to download the Windows installer. Choose the x64 version for standard PCs or ARM64 for Surface Pro X and Snapdragon laptops.

Signing In

Sign in with your portal credentials — the same email and password you use at portal.premiervpn.net. If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, you'll be prompted for your 6-digit code.

Server List

The server list is organised into tabs:

  • Standard — Shared VPN servers across 25+ countries
  • Favs — Your bookmarked favourite servers
  • Direct — Direct-routed servers for lower latency
  • Dedicated — Your dedicated IP addresses (Premium/Business plans)

VPN Protocols

Choose your protocol at the bottom of the server list:

  • WireGuard — Fastest, recommended for most users
  • OpenVPN UDP — Good balance of speed and compatibility
  • OpenVPN TCP — Best for restrictive networks and firewalls

Security Settings

Setting Default Description
Kill Switch ON Blocks all internet if VPN disconnects unexpectedly
DNS Leak Protection ON Forces DNS through the VPN tunnel
Block Outside DNS ON Prevents DNS leaking outside the tunnel
IPv6 Through Tunnel OFF Blocks IPv6 to prevent leaks

Connection Settings

Setting Description
Connect on Startup Auto-connect to last server when app launches
Auto Reconnect Automatically reconnect if VPN drops
Default Protocol Choose default protocol (WireGuard recommended)

General Settings

Setting Description
Start on Boot Launch when Windows starts
Start Minimized Launch to system tray
Minimize to Tray Close button minimizes instead of quitting

System Tray

PremierVPN runs in the background via the system tray. Right-click the tray icon for quick connect/disconnect, server selection, settings, and live connection stats. Double-click to open the main window.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection fails: Try a different protocol or server. Go to Settings → Repair Network Adapter.
  • Internet stops after disconnecting: The kill switch may still be active. Reconnect then disconnect normally.
  • SmartScreen warning: Click "More info" → "Run anyway". This is normal for new software.
