How to Set Up PremierVPN X on Windows
PremierVPN X for Windows uses the VLESS + REALITY protocol to make your VPN traffic invisible to firewalls and DPI systems. This guide walks you through installation and first connection.
System Requirements
- Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) or Windows 11
- x64 (most PCs) or ARM64 (Surface Pro X, Snapdragon devices)
- An active PremierVPN subscription
Step 1: Download
- Log in to the Client Portal and go to your Downloads page.
- Under PremierVPN X, download the correct version:
- x64 for most Windows PCs (Intel/AMD processors)
- ARM64 for Surface Pro X and Snapdragon-based devices
Step 2: Install
- Run the downloaded installer (e.g.
PremierVPN X_1.0.0_x64-setup.exe). - If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info โ Run anyway.
- Follow the installer prompts โ no administrator password is required.
- PremierVPN X launches automatically and appears in the system tray.
Step 3: Sign In
- Enter your portal email and password (the same credentials you use on portal.premiervpn.net).
- If you have 2FA enabled, enter your authenticator code.
- Your session is stored securely for 90 days.
Note: PremierVPN X uses your portal login โ not your VPN credentials. Your VPN username/password is only for WireGuard and OpenConnect connections.
Step 4: Connect
- Go to the Servers page and select a server.
- Click the Connect button on the Dashboard.
- The button turns green and shows Disconnect when connected.
- A session timer, your server location, and REALITY protocol indicator appear on the dashboard.
Verify Your Connection
- Dashboard shows "Connected" with server name and REALITY protocol
- Visit premiervpn.net/ip-leak-test โ your IP should show the server's location
- System tray shows "Connected ยท [server name]"
- Run Diagnostics โ all four checks should pass

How Routing Works
PremierVPN X sets the Windows system proxy to route traffic through a local proxy (127.0.0.1:10809). All apps that respect the system proxy (browsers, most desktop apps) route through the VPN automatically. Some apps (games, certain desktop clients) bypass the system proxy โ use the standard WireGuard app for full system-wide routing.
