Using the Security Dashboard

Last updated 14 Mar 2026 · 6 views

The Security Dashboard is a tool included with Premium VPN and Business VPN plans that monitors your digital security beyond what a VPN alone can provide.

Accessing the Security Dashboard

  1. Log in to the PremierVPN Client Portal.
  2. Click "Security Dashboard" in the Quick Links sidebar on your Dashboard.

Note: The Security Dashboard is only available on Premium and Business plans. If you are on a Personal plan, you will see an upgrade prompt.

Features

Email Breach Check

Enter any email address to check if it has appeared in known data breaches. The system searches thousands of compromised databases and shows you which breaches your email was found in, what data was exposed (passwords, phone numbers, addresses, etc.), and when the breach occurred.

You can check up to 3 emails per day.

Password Exposure Alerts

Test any password to see if it has been leaked in a data breach. This uses a secure privacy-first method called k-anonymity — your password is hashed locally in your browser and only the first 5 characters of the hash are sent to the API. Your full password never leaves your device.

If a password has been exposed, you should change it immediately on any account where you use it.

Dark Web Monitoring

Scans dark web paste sites and underground data dumps for your email address. Pastes are often the first sign that your data has been leaked before it appears in a formal breach disclosure.

IP Reputation Check

Checks your current IP address and any VPN server IPs assigned to your account against global abuse databases. Each IP receives a score from 0 to 100:

  • 0 — Clean, no abuse reports
  • 1–25 — Low risk
  • 26–50 — Medium risk
  • 51–100 — High risk, flagged for abuse

The check also shows the ISP, country, usage type (residential/datacenter), and whether the IP is a known Tor exit node.

You can check up to 5 custom IPs per day. Your own IP and VPN server IPs checked via "Full Scan" do not count towards this limit.

Running a Full Scan

Click the "Run Full Scan" button to check everything at once — your email for breaches and pastes, plus your current IP and all assigned VPN server IPs for reputation. Results appear in real time as each check completes.

Daily Limits

To ensure fair usage, the following daily limits apply (reset at midnight UTC):

  • Email checks: 3 per day
  • Custom IP checks: 5 per day
  • Password checks: Unlimited

FAQs

Is my password sent to a server when I check it?

No. Your password is hashed in your browser using SHA-1, and only the first 5 characters of the hash are sent. The API returns all matching hash suffixes, and the comparison happens locally. Your actual password never leaves your device.

What should I do if my email is found in a breach?

Change the password on any account that uses that email address, especially if the breach includes passwords. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible. Consider using a password manager to generate unique passwords for each service.

Why does my VPN server IP have a score above 0?

Shared VPN server IPs can occasionally receive low abuse scores due to other users' activity. This is normal and does not affect your security. Scores below 25 are generally not a concern.
