Which Protocol Should I Use?
Quick Recommendation
If you're unsure, start with DNSTT (socks). It's the most reliable protocol and works in almost every situation.
Decision Guide
Your first time connecting:
Use DNSTT (socks). It's been tested extensively and has the best track record in censored environments. Import this URI first.
DNSTT is connecting but slow:
Try Slipstream (socks). It uses QUIC which provides better speeds, especially for video calls and streaming.
DNSTT stopped working / gets blocked:
Switch to VayDNS (socks). It has maximum stealth with 9 different DNS record types that make it very hard to detect.
All DNS-based protocols are blocked:
Try NaiveProxy. It uses HTTPS (port 443) instead of DNS (port 53), so it works even when DNS tunnelling is blocked. Your traffic looks like normal web browsing.
You're on iOS (iPhone/iPad):
Use NaiveProxy via the Shadowrocket app. It's the only protocol currently available on iOS. See the article "Setting Up NaiveProxy on iOS with Shadowrocket" for instructions.
Quick fallback needed:
Try StunTLS. It connects directly to the server IP without needing DNS — useful if DNS is completely filtered on your network.
SOCKS vs SSH Variants
Most protocols come in two variants: socks and ssh. Start with socks — it's simpler and usually works fine. If the socks variant connects but you have no internet access, try the ssh variant of the same protocol.
Import Multiple Protocols
We strongly recommend importing at least 3-4 different protocol URIs into SlipNet. This way, if one stops working, you can switch to another immediately without needing to go back to the portal.
