WireGuard remains our recommended protocol for everyday use — it offers the best raw speed with full system-wide routing via a kernel driver. Use PremierVPN X when your network actively blocks or throttles VPN traffic.
How Routing Works
System Proxy
PremierVPN X routes your traffic using the Windows System Proxy. It sets your HTTP proxy to 127.0.0.1:10809 and adds the VPN server IP to the bypass list to prevent routing loops. All apps that respect the system proxy — browsers, most desktop apps — route through the VPN automatically.
SOCKS5 Proxy
A local SOCKS5 proxy runs on 127.0.0.1:10808 for apps that support direct SOCKS5 configuration (Firefox, Telegram, qBittorrent, etc). Both ports are configurable in Settings.
What Doesn't Route Through the VPN?
Some apps — particularly games, certain desktop clients, and system services — bypass the Windows system proxy. For full system-wide routing, use our standard PremierVPN app with WireGuard, which uses a kernel-level driver.
Security Properties
Forward Secrecy
Each session uses ephemeral X25519 keys. Compromise of long-term keys cannot decrypt past sessions.
Per-User UUIDs
Each subscriber receives a unique VLESS UUID managed automatically by the portal. Individual access can be revoked without affecting other users.
Zero Logs
PremierVPN does not log traffic, DNS queries, connection timestamps, or IP addresses. Your privacy is absolute.
Credential Storage
Your bearer token is stored in the Windows Registry under your user profile (HKCU), protected by OS-level access controls. Your password is never stored.
Config Security
The XRay config file containing your UUID and server public key is written on connect and deleted on disconnect.
Port 443 Only
All traffic uses the standard HTTPS port. Open on virtually every network worldwide — cannot be blocked without breaking the web.
