Fake ads are one of the most common ways people end up on scam and malware sites. They can appear on Google search results, on YouTube, and on any site that uses Google's ad network.
With Ad click protection on, clicking one of these ads shows a PremierVPN page saying We stopped an ad from opening, instead of taking you to the advertiser.
What you can do on the warning page
- Click Go back to return to the page you were on. In a new tab, click Close this tab instead.
- If you want to visit the advertiser, open Details and other options. If the ad says where it leads, you'll see the address and an Open button. This takes you straight to the site, without the ad's tracking. The site is still checked against our malware list.
Some ads don't say where they lead. For those, there's nothing safe to open, so only Go back is offered.
To switch this off, open the popup's Protection tab and turn off Ad click protection. Ad clicks on sites you trust always go through.
