With YouTube ads switched on, Protect removes:
- video ads before, during and after videos
- ads in the home feed, search results and Shorts
- banner and overlay ads on videos
This works on YouTube, YouTube Music, the mobile YouTube site and YouTube videos embedded on other websites. If an ad does start, Protect mutes it and skips it.
After installing or changing the setting, reload any YouTube tabs you already had open.
If an ad gets through:
- Reload the page.
- Make sure your browser has the latest version of Protect. Extensions normally update by themselves.
- YouTube changes the way it shows ads every few weeks. When it does, the occasional ad may get through until we release an update.
If a video won't play, switch YouTube ads off in the popup's Protection tab, reload the page, and contact support so we can fix it.
If you've trusted youtube.com, Protect doesn't block anything on YouTube. Stop trusting it to block YouTube ads again.
