What Are Sender Trust Badges?

Every incoming email in PrMail displays a coloured trust badge next to the sender's name. The badge gives you an instant visual signal of how trustworthy the sender is, based on multiple security checks performed automatically.

Badge Levels

BadgeScoreMeaning
● Trusted70–100SPF, DKIM, and DMARC all pass. Known sender with history. No trackers detected.
● Verified40–69Some authentication checks pass. May be a new sender or have minor issues.
● Caution20–39Authentication failures, tracking pixels detected, first-time sender, or urgency language.
● Suspicious0–19DMARC failed, disposable email domain, phishing indicators detected.

What Gets Checked

The trust score is calculated from several signals:

  • SPF verification — checks whether the sending server is authorised to send email for that domain.
  • DKIM verification — checks whether the email has a valid cryptographic signature.
  • DMARC alignment — checks whether SPF and DKIM align with the sender's domain policy.
  • Sender history — whether this person has emailed you before, and how often.
  • Tracking pixels — how many invisible trackers were stripped from the email.
  • Disposable domain detection — whether the sender is using a throwaway email provider.
  • Phishing indicators — brand misspellings in the domain (e.g. paypa1.com instead of paypal.com).
  • Urgency language — subjects containing "urgent", "verify your account", "act immediately", etc.

Viewing Trust Details

When reading an email, click "Trust info" next to the sender's name to expand the full breakdown. Each signal is listed with a pass (green tick), warning (amber triangle), or fail (red cross) indicator. The overall score is shown as a percentage bar.

Important Notes

  • Trust badges are informational — they help you make decisions but don't block any emails.
  • A "Caution" badge doesn't necessarily mean the email is malicious — it may just be from a poorly configured sender.
  • First-time senders always start with a lower score until they build history.
  • All checks are performed locally on our servers — no data is sent to third-party reputation services.
